UESTC won the Southwest Division in the RoboMasters 2015

On the afternoon of May 24th, thunderous applause came with a piece of good news—UESTC won the Southwest Division in the Robomasters 2015. The audience in the gymnasium on Qingshuihe campus could not help jumping for joy when hearing the final result, some of whom even felt that the two-day competition was simply not enough. “Is that all? I can’t believe this is the end of the match!”

From May 23rd to 24th, the Southwest Division Competition of the RoboMasters 2015 was held on Qingshuihe campus, with 12 robot teams from 10 universities taking part in.

The competition adopted the game mode of “Super Robot War” and the competitors manipulated the robots by computers so that the robots can fight with the adversaries by shooting. To achieve a better game effect, the committee also used the UAV in the live broadcast.

In the final title fight, team “One point five” of our school beat Southwest University of Science and Technology by 2:1. Both of the champion and the runner-up, as well as Southwest Petroleum University are going to attend the finals of RoboMasters 2015 this July in Shenzhen.

Vice President Zeng Yong of UESTC and Executive Chairman of the committee, Professor Li Zexiang of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology made the opening speech. Both of them encouraged students to be more creative and innovative, hoping this competition could provide a platform of innovative talents cultivation.

During the competition, a “Robot Carnival” was also held outside the gymnasium, which contained seven subject areas, such as Ideagoras area, flight experiencing area, RM combat vehicles area, etc. A series of colorful activities attracted fans of robot as well as many passionate citizens.

Held by School and College Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Young League and the All-China Students' Federation Secretariat, the competition is aimed at offering a platform of scientific and technological innovation for college students. There are totally 240 teams entered for the RoboMasters 2015 and 157 of them finally qualified.
